Common Inquiries
Before getting any treatment, it’s important to know you’ll be in safe hands. Not only are our medical experts trained to be the best of the best, they also only deliver quality, tried-and-tested treatments. We use FDA-approved and CE-marked dermal fillers, Juvederm, trusted by thousands of experts and patients across the world. And for added peace of mind, our dermal fillers are only injected by our world-renowned doctors.
If you’re still unsure whether dermal fillers are right for you and would like to discuss factors such as allergic reactions, adverse reactions, we can talk through any worries you might have when you meet one of our specialist doctors during your consultation.
We use a type of dermal filler, Juvederm, that contains a local anaesthetic to sooth the treated area. This makes sure the pain is at a minimum, so you can have results without the discomfort.
Juvéderm is a type of dermal filler, brought to us by the world leaders in surgical and non-surgical aesthetic products, Allergan. Containing a local anaesthetic, Lidocaine, the Juvéderm dermal fillers simultaneously numb and plump the treated area within a matter of minutes, making sure every patient feels comfortable during their treatment.
The side effects of dermal fillers vary from person to person and can include tenderness, swelling, redness and some pain. To avoid triggering these side effects, we always advise to avoid sun or heat exposure for 24 hours after treatment. We also recommend avoiding alcohol so for at least a day.
Dermal fillers are only as good as the person treating them. A skilful treatment will only enhance your natural beauty, leaving you looking rejuvenated and rested. Sadly, there are people who have been treated with an excessive amount of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, leading to a distorted, puffy and unnatural facial expression. Some patients also have unrealistic expectations and ask for such high volumes of filler that make it impossible to achieve a natural look. It is the job of any good aesthetic practitioner to assess the face carefully and only deliver dermal filler in the appropriate places and amounts based on your treatment medical history.
At Aesthetic Edge, we pride ourselves on offering dermal filler treatments that meet our client goals while giving a subtle yet effective end result. We want our clients to walk out looking like the best version of themselves, not ‘done’.
While there are permanent fillers available on the market, we do not use them at Aesthetic Edge. We only promote the use of temporary hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, as we believe patients should always have the ultimate say on what they would like to achieve from their treatment.
We only promote the use of temporary hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, as we believe patients should always have the ultimate say on what they would like to achieve from their treatment.
If permanent fillers are used, patients are not able to reverse the effects of their treatment if they do not like the effect. It is also important to realise that the face changes significantly over time, which means a permanent filler injected now could look unnatural in years to come.
HA fillers are both temporary and reversible, using an injectable product called Hyalase. We always reassure our filler patients that they are fully in control of their results. The vast majority of reversal work carried out at Aesthetic Edge is with patients who have had unsatisfactory treatments elsewhere.
Your practitioner will expertly massage the filler post-injection to help ensure a smooth, even result. You will also be given post-care advice to help achieve optimum results.
However, lumps are a possible side effect of a dermal filler treatment. If this occurs, you should contact Aesthetic Edge for advice. Patients should not massage the area themselves without taking advice. After a few weeks, your clinician will invite you back to make minor adjustments, if needed. They use a special massage technique which settles the product to give the optimal final result.
In the vast majority of cases, family and friends won’t notice dermal filler treatment. They will simply notice you look refreshed, or ‘well’, without having any idea why. At Aesthetic Edge, we take pride in enhancing clients’ natural assets, rather than distorting them.
We believe that only medically trained clinicians should perform injectable treatments. The result of treatment is only as good as the practitioner. All our dermal filler practitioners are fully qualified, and have the skills and expertise to provide the exceptional results. Aesthetic Edge’s team is led by Dr Maxine, a true artist in dermal fillers, who has performed thousands of treatments on a wide range of patients, and teaches his advanced skills to both his clinic team and to delegates internationally. He has unsurpassed knowledge of dermal filler techniques, which he shares with his team to ensure the highest level quality of treatments at Aesthetic Edge.
Dermal filler injections can be used on a wide range of patients. They are suitable for those seeking to restore facial volume loss, smooth wrinkles and enjoy a subtly rejuvenated appearance. They can also be used to add volume to the lips, reshape the nose and strengthen a weak chin. In some circumstances they can be used to treat scarring. While there is no known risk to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, we would not provide or recommend dermal filler treatment under these circumstances.
